Will for his Dad

When someone asks me about my dad I instantly think of this song and the short clip of him looking like a tw*t with his jumper over his shoulders.

But that was the great thing about him, he didn't care. Jumping on and off the stage of a random bar somewhere in America whilst belting out Don't Stop Me Now, despite having just been in charge of a massive relief mission and saving thousands of lives.

After he passed I found powerlifting and it was the perfect outlet for me, one of the many things it’s taught me is how much music can make you feel.

Me and my dad were never really close, he worked away and it was clear to everyone that my sister was his favourite (it’s fine, I'm Mum’s favourite). He was very set on me becoming a rugby player when I was younger but I never enjoyed it much.

After he passed I found powerlifting and it was the perfect outlet for me, one of the many things it’s taught me is how much music can make you "feel". I've been in multiple situations where I've had to do a lift to win a competition, whenever I'm in that situation I listen to Don't Stop Me Now. It adds another pair of hands to the bar and makes me feel like he's there watching me but more importantly proud of me.

I often tell myself to "be more Dad".

To sing loudly, to dance like no one’s watching, to tell the worst jokes, to laugh like I'll never laugh again.

More importantly to love as loud as I play this song (very loud).
