Starter for Ten
Music: The Battle of Evermore
Artist: Led Zeppelin
Shared by: Roger for his wife
Sorry, but music hasn’t directly helped with the grief following my wife’s death. That’s a good starter for ten on the subject of Music to Die For! But allow me to explain.
On marriage, when we combined our respective collections of LPs there were no duplicates, just an eclectic mix of genre that endured the 40 years of our time together. That didn’t mean music wasn’t important in our lives. On the contrary. It was always the back ground rhythm behind raising four beautiful children and sharing a moment of peace and comfort when they were all settled in the evening.
Following my wife’s death a few things helped me move forward: the joy of my children and grandchildren; painting watercolours; friendships new and continued; writing my journal. Music wasn’t on this immediate list.
“It was and is subliminal, not requiring note. That is how powerful the healing of music is. ”
That was over 6 years ago and in retrospect I now appreciate that music should have been on that list. It was such an embedded part of our life together and my own life after. It was and is subliminal, not requiring note. That is how powerful the healing of music is.
I smile when I listen to Led Zeppelin because I was always told to turn it down.
I get sad listening to Miles Davis because I've no one here to share it with.
